SUMMARY:Headwaters Jersey Launch
DESCRIPTION:Excited to purchase your Colorado Rapids Headwaters Kit? Head on over to the Banshee House in Denver to purchase your kit in person\, or visit AltitudeAuthentics.com or MLSstore.com to purchase your kit online! \nThe Headwaters Kit draws inspiration from the rivers that originate high in the Rocky Mountains\, providing water to millions across the American West. The design reflects the flowing waterways that shape Colorado’s topography\, symbolizing the connection between the state’s natural resources and its people. This is more than just a kit. It represents our two organization’s commitment to the community and our core values\, embracing the elements that define Colorado’s landscapes and lifestyle. \nThe jersey features a halo mint base\, representing the crisp\, clear snowmelt of Colorado’s rivers\, complemented by onyx\, tech green\, and traditional burgundy accents. For the first time in club history\, the Rapids’ secondary ‘C’ crest takes center stage on the front of the jersey. Additional features include Centennial 38’s iconic oars on the lower left jock tag\, honoring the Rapids’ dedicated supporter culture\, and the club’s primary crest subtly embedded within the front design\, reinforcing the team’s deep connection to its roots. \n \nAs part of the Headwaters Kit launch\, the Rapids have partnered with Colorado Water Trust to help to support our 27 projects aimed at improving water flow in rivers across the state. Since 2001\, Colorado Water Trust has restored 26.7 billion gallons of water and 814 miles of river\, ensuring that Colorado’s waterways continue to benefit communities\, ecosystems\, and industries statewide. \nLearn more about our community partnership with the Colorado Rapids here.

SUMMARY:River in Motion: A Celebration of the Collaborative Community Efforts that Keep the Yampa Flowing
DESCRIPTION:Join us in Steamboat Springs on Tuesday August 19th for River in Motion—a celebration of the community collaborations that help keep the Yampa River flowing strong! \nTickets are limited\, so make sure to register for this great event here.  \nWhat: An educational event featuring the many organizations that work together to boost flows on the Yampa\nWho: This event is open to the public—bring your friends and family!\nWhere: Art Depot\, downtown Steamboat Springs\nWhen: Tuesday August 19th\, 5-6:30pm at the Art Depot\, with happy hour at Mountain Tap to follow \nThis event is being co-hosted by Colorado Water Trust and the Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District. \nSpeakers include:  \n\nKent Vertrees – Moderator\nJulie Baxter – City of Steamboat Springs\nBlake Mamich – Colorado Water Trust\nHolly Kirkpatrick & Andy Rossi – Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District\nAnna Mauss – Colorado Water Conservation Board\nJackie Brown – Tri-State Generation & Transmission Association\nBrian Romig – Department of Water Resources\nGreg Hamilton – Yampa Valley Community Foundation\nMike Robertson – Yampa River Fund\nJennifer Wellman – The Nature Conservancy\nDylan Roberts – Colorado State Senator\nHunter Causey – Colorado River District\n\nPlease email Barrett at bdonovan@coloradowatertrust.org with any questions. We hope to see you soon! \nCurious to learn more? Here’s some background information on the project we’ll be discussing:   \nReservoir releases near Steamboat Springs\, Colorado benefit multiple water users and the environment during periods of low flow in the Yampa River. \nIn the summer of 2012\, the Yampa River saw critically low flows due to drought\, threatening the health of the river and forcing the City of Steamboat Springs to close the river to all fishing and recreation. Colorado Water Trust engaged in an emergency response effort with the Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District and the Colorado Water Conservation Board to address the needs of the river. \nAs the first ever short-term lease of water to the Colorado Water Conservation Board’s Instream Flow Program\, this project leased water from Stagecoach Reservoir to support streamflow\, aquatic habitat\, and temperature mitigation. The released water also indirectly benefits hydropower generation\, and recreation. The success of that first short-term lease led to annual efforts to boost flows in the Yampa by releasing water out of Stagecoach using various legal tools. In 2021\, a new 10-year contract was signed to release water to the river that included a lease to Instream Flow that can used in 5 out of 10 years. The Instream Flow lease can also be renewed twice\, allowing environmental releases to bolster flows in the Yampa River for up to 15 out of 30 years if needed. \nAt times\, the water from this project accounts for over half of the water in the Yampa River from Stagecoach through the City of Steamboat Springs. \nThis project is made possible by over 13 project partners\, many of whom you’ll hear from during River in Motion. \nLearn more here.
