Although the Yampa basin was hoping for more snow than 2012, the snowpack level in mid-May of 2013 was just at 66 percent of average. Once again, CWT, along with Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District, and the Colorado Water Conservation Board, inked an agreement for 4,000 acre-feet to release water to improve habitat and lower temperatures on the Yampa River. The partners released water early in the summer, keepings flows higher and temperatures lower, until unusually wet weather brought flows to above average for the remainder of the season. CWT shut off releases after using around 3,000 acre-feet.
