City of Steamboat Springs Proclamation

We always love it when we get to head out into the wilds of Colorado outside the Front Range (OK, Steamboat isn’t that wild), especially when we accept an award for our work! On December 4th, 2018, I and our program stars, Zach Smith (Legal Counsel) and Mickey O’Hara (Staff Engineer), headed up to be present when the City of Steamboat Springs gave a proclamation – “Recognizing the Colorado Water Trust for its contribution to the health of the Yampa River through Steamboat Springs, Colorado.” Since 2013 we have been operating an innovating water-leasing program out of Stagecoach Reservoir, to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars and 9464 acre-feet of water. At times this year the water we leased was almost the only flow in the whole, beautiful, wild Yampa River!

We are so honored and excited about our first city proclamation. We could not have done it without all of the partners involved in our Yampa River project. It is rewarding to see all of the years of hard work and collaboration in the Yampa River basin recognized.
