Daily Camera (May 13, 2025)—The Colorado Water Trust has plans to celebrate a major donation … of a lake.
The nonprofit group is hosting a Boulder Creek Waters Celebration from 5:30 to 9 p.m. June 11 at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons.
CWT accepted a donation of Jasper Lake last summer from an anonymous donor. Then, it transferred the ownership to area resident Doug Tiefel under an agreement that includes “covenants that permanently protect public access to Jasper Lake and optimize the environmental benefits of Jasper Lake water in the Boulder Creek system,” according to the nonprofit group materials.
The project water boosts flows in 37 miles of Boulder Creek and its tributaries during the drier weather months in the fall, and the water will be used to help sustain local agriculture, according to a news release.
The Boulder Creek Waters Celebration will include bluegrass music, cocktails and a farm-to-table dinner.
General tickets are $150 and $70 for students. Visit bouldercreekwatersevent.com to register.
